Historical Reprints

Books long forgotten that TGS Publishers (and a few others) have republished.

The period of time between the mid 1800''s and early 1900''s was a giant step forward in the evolution of man''s knowledge. Books written during the Age of Enlightenment should never be relegated to manipulation of digital editors.

Many authors and researcher's works from this period show the incredible leap in ''thought'' that still impacts us today.

Secret History of the Court of Justinian
Catalog #: SKU1076

I have thus described the fortunes of the Romans in their wars up to the present day, as far as possible assigning the description of events to their proper times and places. What follows will not be arranged with the same exactness, but everything shall be written down as it took place throughout the whole extent of the Roman empire. My reason for this is, that it would not have been expedient for me to describe these events fully while those who were their authors were still alive; for, had I done so, I could neither have escaped the notice of the multitude of spies, nor, had I been detected, could I have avoided a most horrible death; for I could not even have relied upon my nearest relatives with confidence.

Secret Memoirs of the Mother of the Regent
Catalog #: SKU1162

A rare look into the personal lives of the French and other monarchies, how they lived, how they thought. The Duchesse d'Orleans, commonly though incorrectly styled the Princess of Bavaria, was known to have maintained a very extensive correspondence with her relations and friends in different parts of Europe. Nearly eight hundred of her letters, written to the Princess Wilhelmina Charlotte of Wales and the Duke Antoine-Ulric of Brunswick, were found amongst the papers left by the Duchess Elizabeth of Brunswick at her death, in 1767. These appeared to be so curious that the Court of Brunswick ordered De Praun, a Privy Councillor, to make extracts of such parts as were most interesting.

Self Development and the Way to Power
Catalog #: SKU1077

It is the natural right of every human being to be happy--to escape all the miseries of life. Happiness is the normal condition, as natural as the landscapes and the seasons. It is unnatural to suffer and it is only because of our ignorance that we do suffer. Happiness is the product of wisdom.

Simon Magnus
Catalog #: SKU1036

Everybody in Christendom has heard of Simon, the magician, and how Peter, the apostle, rebuked him, as told in the narrative of the Acts of the Apostles. Many also have heard the legend of how at Rome this wicked sorcerer endeavoured to fly by aid of the demons, and how Peter caused him to fall headlong and thus miserably perish. And so most think that there is an end of the matter, and either cast their mite of pity or contempt at the memory of Simon, or laugh at the whole matter as the invention of superstition or the imagination of religious fanaticism, according as their respective beliefs may be in orthodoxy or materialism. This for the general.

STORY OF ALCHEMY AND THE BEGINNINGS OF CHEMISTRY
Catalog #: SKU1170

The Story of Alchemy and the Beginnings of Chemistry is very interesting in itself. It is also a pregnant example of the contrast between the scientific and the emotional methods of regarding nature; and it admirably illustrates the differences between well-grounded, suggestive, hypotheses, and baseless speculations.
I have tried to tell the story so that it may be intelligible to the ordinary reader.

Stover at Yale
Catalog #: SKU1147

This book is a TGS Historical Reprint. First published in 1911 this book of tales at Yale University is an eye opener for those that hold this old university in awe. Once a prestigious school of learning, Yale has devolved into a school for the rich and elite only where getting a Yale degree gives the mere appearance of an education. President George Bush and President George Bush Junior, holding the lowest IQs of all presidents of the United States got their 'alleged' education at Yale.

Symbolism of Freemasonry
Catalog #: SKU1009

The work now offered to the public is an effort to develop and explain this philosophy and science. It will show that there are in Freemasonry the germs of profound speculation. If it does not interest the learned, it may instruct the ignorant. If so, I shall not regret the labor and research that have been bestowed upon its composition.

Urbain Grandier Countess de-Saint Geran Martin Guerre Volume 4 Celebrated Crimes
Catalog #: SKU1070

Dumas's 'Celebrated Crimes' was not written for children. The novelist has spared no language-has minced no words-to describe the violent scenes of a violent time.
One of the strangest stories is that of Urbain Grandier, the innocent victim of a cunning and relentless religious plot. His story was dramatised by Dumas, in 1850.

Utopia of Usurers and other Essays
Catalog #: SKU1049

I propose, subject to the patience of the reader, to devote two or three articles to prophecy. Like all healthy-minded prophets, sacred and profane, I can only prophesy when I am in a rage and think things look ugly for everybody. And like all healthy-minded prophets, I prophesy in the hope that my prophecy may not come true. For the prediction made by the true soothsayer is like the warning given by a good doctor. And the doctor has really triumphed when the patient he condemned to death has revived to life. The threat is justified at the very moment when it is falsified.

War in the Garden of Eden
Catalog #: SKU1084

A look back at nearly a century ago when England and the U.S. was warring against the people and nations of Middle East. This is an endless war that Europe and the West has continued against the Middle East and the people there that once lived in solitude have now for centuries endured constant occupation from one Christian nation or another. It is interesting to note that the same players a century ago are the same players today.
