This book has been purposely given a sub-title, in order that the peculiar position of the Indian, in 1861, may be brought out in strong relief. He was enough inside the American Union to have something to say about secession and enough outside of it to be approached diplomatically. It is well to note, indeed, that Albert Pike negotiated the several Indian treaties that bound the Indian nations in an alliance with the seceded states, under the authority of the Confederate State Department
The Annexation of Texas was one of the most hotly debated issues in the US in the 1840s. It was illegal since it violated treaties with the Republic of Mexico, it set the North against the South since the Mason-Dixon line compromise made it automatically a slave state, nor did the US government did not have the constitutional authority of annexation. The annexation efforts failed, the treaty failed the US senate. Only by political subversion was Texas admitted to the Union.

This review of Judge Story's Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States is perhaps the ablest analysis of the nature and character of the Federal Government that has ever been published. It has remained unanswered. Indeed, we are not aware that any attempt has been made to invalidate the soundness of its reasoning.
Most patriot researchers and historians have read and studied the prophecies that concern the United States, but few realize that similar prophecies were written about the Confederate States of America. These are good to read and analyze because they set Christian prophecies to a lower value of relevance, since many were proven false.
History ignores the FACT that the Southern states were legally and constitutionally in the right. Though slavery was morally wrong, the North and the Republican party had legal avenues to change the constitution, but instead chose war. The fascist boot of the Republican Party remains a milestone around the neck of freedom.
The cloud which for the space of a month hung gloomily over the civilized world, black with far worse evils than those of simple war, has passed from over our heads without bursting.
Who better than the daughter of the 1st Vice President of the Republic of Texas should write the story of the Alamo? The De Zavala daughters were major voices in pushing for the restoration and preservation of this Texian Shrine
One of the more curious admissions by silence of the US government was the refusal to charge and try Jefferson Davis as a traitor! President Davis did nothing wrong...
2 books in one volume - The jurisprudence of Texas is in many respects different from that of any other country. It is a resultant of the combined forces of the Civil and Common law. For centuries these two great systems of jurisprudence have controlled the governments of Southern and Western Europe, the Civil law having its sway over the Latin, and the Common law, over the Anglo-Saxon and kindred peoples. In connection with them in their several jurisdictions has grown up the splendid civilization of Europe.
