These meditations will
bring joy and peace
to readers of all ages.

'Safari' is a Swahili word meaning 'journey'. This word aptly describes our lives, not as a destination, but as a work in progress. Nowhere are the cycles of life and death more evident than the African continent. With its majestic landscape and unforgiving environment, it constantly serves to remind us, simultaneously, of the splendour and harshness of life. The curious wildlife of Africa also demonstrate the beauty of unique physical traits, and how intricately related each creature is.

It is a return to basics, the simple things in life; birth, life and death. In the midst of this modern world, out lives have become so busy that our focus is often lost. We become disconnected from those things that give our lives purpose. We forget to share our love with those that are important. We put our own growth and happiness behind everything else.

At different stages of our lives we encounter different issues as they relate to our development. In this book, four stages of development are considered. Beginning with 'the Early Years', this is a period from birth up until around 10 or 11. For some it will continue later, or for some this ends earlier. Each individual is different, and these are merely guidelines for what is appropriate.

The 'Early Years' is a time when play and imagery is crucial to young minds. They improve creativity through visualisation techniques, and are encouraged to explore and discover. It is a perfect time to introdude children to basic relaxation and breathing exercises. This gives them a connection between their mind and body, teaching self respect. Words empower children to be positive, courageous and to express their emotions. With these skills children are able to cope better with everyday crises.

About the Author

Roxanne Paynter was born and raised in Tasmania Australia and, in her late twenties, she gave birth to her first child. Not knowing from one day to the next if he would survive, she watched her son spend the first few months of his life in intensive care.

During this time, she had the opportunity to discover how difficult it is with a sick child, of any age. Roxanne knew her son would be a little different, and she thought about how she could make him feel good about himself, as he grew older. She analysed the things that would be most important to teach him and she discovered these things to be love, self-esteem, and a connection to spirit or purpose in life.

She then searched for a tool that would help her pass these things on and found nothing. She realised that meditation was the simplest, most effective way to do this for many reasons. Not only does the child benefit from relaxation, and stimulating their imagination, but also they are empowered to draw on their own abilities. They learn that they are important and that they have purpose.

Currently live in Queensland with her husband and two children, Roxanne continues to write for children, focusing on their sense of spirit and helping them address the issues that confront them.
