Alien Chronicles
Compelling Evidence For UFOs and Extraterrestrial Encounters
in Art & Texts Since Ancient Times

by Matthew Hurley

Yesterday's X Files

An enthralling journey through the past to a new vision of the UFO phenomenon. Not since Jacques Vallee's legendary Passport to Magonia has an author tackled the fact that UFO sightings and close encounters have been a part of human history for millennia with such expertise. This book is an absolute must for anybody who's curious about unexplained phenomena.
A major addition to the field of UFO research.

--Whitley Strieber
(Author of Communion, the number one New York Times bestseller)

The Alien Chronicles takes us on a whirlwind tour through the most obvious source for extraterrestrial encounters - our ancestors' art and writings.

From Prehistoric rock art to the texts of the high civilisations of Sumeria and Egypt, this superbly illustrated book, makes us question the orthodox viewpoints surrounding our history and beliefs. Whether you are a passionate Ufologist or an ardent sceptic, this book will leave you wondering and wanting more.

Using over 150 images, Matthew Hurley takes us on a journey into the past, uncovering hidden details found in many texts and historical artworks. From the cave art of our indigenous ancestors, through to the religious art of the Renaissance, we are shown a plenitude of evidence for 'strange beings', UFOs and other historically recorded 'alien encounters'. In a methodical order and with academic gusto, The Alien Chronicles presents a strong case for the visitation of extraterrestrials throughout known history. At the same time, the book challenges both anthropological and psychological explanations for UFO phenomenon, while presenting a 'portfolio' of paintings and photographs that would have any serious investigator racing back in time - to every continent and every era. This book is nothing short of a major revolution in how we view the world and our history.

Some of the themes found in its pages

are:
  • Pre-historic artworks depicting aliens and spaceships

  • UFOs in Western Historical Art and photographs

  • Extraterrestrial encounters and UFO visitations written into ancient texts from all over the world.

  • Unusual "out of place" artifacts like the fabulous Mitchell Hedges Crystal Skull and ancient maps, whose creation could not have taken place without knowledge and capabilities far superior than that of our ancestors.

In one concise book and pooled from sources all over the world, prepare to open the first ever-compiled dossier on 'historical¹ alien activity known to man!

Occasionally, the discovery of new elements in art has cause the rewriting of history. Could the depiction of UFOs in historical artwork and literature initiate another revision? Art like science and religion fulfils our innate urge to comprehend ourselves and the universe and can penetrate to the core of our being. Artists articulate shared beliefs and values and express them to their audience. Inspiration in itself is an interesting concept. Some people believe that artists can be inspired by a higher power that acts through the artist. Possibly we witness this in some of the religious artwork. If we consider for one moment that extraterrestrials have been visiting our planet for thousands of years, we cannot rule out the idea that they may have inspired people in many differing fields of human culture including the Arts.

Ever since prehistory, man has gazed up at the heavens, and expressed celestial happenings in the form of art. This book provides a chronicle of these celestial representations. Evidence of this is shown early on in the chapter on prehistoric art, with flying saucers depicted on the walls of Palaeolithic caves in Southern France. Talking openly about unusual phenomena, like UFOs, would have been perilous in times like the Inquisition. Therefore the subtle insertion of UFOs in a painting would have been a method for overcoming the censorship in those bleak periods. An example of this is shown on the next page.
