"Your trouble is nervous. There is nothing we can cut out and there is nothing we can give medicine for." With these words a young college student was dismissed from one of our great diagnostic clinics. (Written BEFORE this profession became the advocate and endorser of TORTURE as puppets of the Bush Regime)
To say that the book you now hold in your hands is a strange, intriguing and highly controversial one, is putting things very mildly indeed. And much the same can be said about its author, too: Webster Edgerly; a name with which very few will today be familiar. Yet, Edgerly has a place in history, and certainly in infamy, that deserves to be told - if only to highlight the bizarre and, at times, dark and disturbing beliefs and motivations of the man.
The subject of this book is more of a monster when it comes to crimes against humanity, than any Frankenstein or horror movie. Yet, we toss around his name, not knowing or realizing what this man-monster was all about. Few figures in history rise to the fame as does the Marquis De Sade for being infamous. His crimes were well known during his lifetime -- and the strangest anomaly is that the society of his era accepted these crimes without much ado.
Not much is known about this book, other than it was not published in its entirety for public consumption for about 80 years after it was written. No one really knows who wrote this erotic, lurid, tale. The first publication in the late 1800s was done only by private printing through special orders, and never made available to the public. It is the mystery of why such a bawdy tail would be covered up for so many years
This little reprint may be a walk down memory lane for many of us, when our parents left 'right' sex education books in our paths to view, rather than doing the 'birds and bees' speech. Such tactics may be needed once again, instead of letting television and video games teach 'sex' to our children.
Fifty Three Chapters on Sex Education for Women (though good for men too!). This reprint presents sex as taught towards the end of the Roaring Twenties. Some of the illnesses presented as facts during this era have been disproved, (regarding marriage and genetic illnesses,) but the book is still an encyclopedia of sex related topics. Sex with all our modernization still remains one of the largest, longest running, elusive mysteries of the human race.
