The end of colonialism in Africa was greeted around the world with great enthusiasm. But African independence in the last forty years has not brought the many hoped-for improvements in the lives of black people. Could the new problems facing Africa actually be worse, far worse, than anything in the past? Will the colonial era one day be seen as Africa's "Golden Age?"

Communists in government during World War II formulated major policies which the Truman administration followed; but when the known communists were gone, the policies continued, under Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson. Being s student of history, and in particular to those relating to Texas and the southern states, I have to admit I'd never heard George Washington's views being taken as prophetic regarding the legal right of the South to secede and form a more perfect union. A very interesting read and collection of facts surrounding the disputes between the Northern hypocrite Republicans and the Southern factions wanting a preservation of the Constitutional rights of the states.
