The Shaver Mystery and the Inner Earth is still in print as Subterranean Worlds Inside Earth.

His was one of the most sensationalistic UFO books of its time. Not only did Cedric Allingham claim to have met a humanoid being from Mars, he also photographed the tall, lanky spaceman - albeit from the back - as well as the alien's multi-tiered craft.

The communications in this little volume, purporting to come from disembodied spirits, came in the manner hereinafter stated, and all that I had to do with them was to faithfully and to the letter transcribe them from the slate on which they were written into blank memorandum books which I procured for the purpose.
