It is impossible for the layman to evaluate the merits of this traditional case against the gold standard. But most economists who are familiar with macroeconomic developments have tended in recent years to minimize the effect of the bullion basis of money in the secular price decline, as compared with certain long-range changes that came with industrialism and improvements in transportation.
The main object of this book is to present a phalanx of facts upon the subject of the defenseless condition of this country, and to show what must be done, and done quickly, in order to avert the most dire calamity that can fall upon a people-that of merciless invasion by a foreign foe, with the horrors of which no pestilence can be compared. (Could this book be the birth of the Indusrial Military Complex?)
WHILE preparing an account of MOUNT ETNA for the Encyclopaedia Britannica, I was surprised to find that there exists no single work in the English language devoted to the history of the most famous volcano in the world. I was consequently induced to considerably enlarge the Encyclopædia article, and the following pages are the result. The facts recorded have been collected from various sources-German, French, Italian, and English, and from my own observations made during the summer of 1877.
The sexual content hidden in Euclid's geometry! Perhaps this is why masons are so excited by the 'G'-- Geometry to G spot?... This is an unusual look at the Big 'G'eometry of Euclid.
Tracing the origins of mankind through lost and vanished civilizations, including mysterious Atlantis.
A look into the hidden forces that pushed Germany into war.
The Laws of England may aptly enough be divided into two Kinds, viz. Lex Scripta, the written Law: and Lex non Scripta, the unwritten Law: For although (as shall be shewn hereafter) all the Laws of this Kingdom have some Monuments or Memorials thereof in Writing, yet all of them have not their Original in Writing; for some of those Laws have obtain'd their Force by immemorial Usage or Custom, and such Laws are properly call'd Leges non Scriptae, or unwritten Laws or Customs.
Interesting little book arguing the absurdity of the lost ten tribes of Israel being British.
Not much is currently published, if there ever was, any substantial amount of facts and history of the Picts as a people and nation. This reprint is rare book indeed.
Added to our TGS Survival series, this book may well be needed when such emergencies occur, as Hurricane Katrinia-Rita, and the emergency turns out to be long term. We must be prepared to jump start small communities, and few of us will have the information at our fingertips required to survive.
A series of Lectures were delivered before the University of Cambridge. Sir Henry Maine (1822 - February 3, 1888) was a British jurist and legal historian. He was born in Kelso, Roxburgh, Scotland on August 15, 1822. Maine is best known for his work in comparative law.
Just what is the story behind the Spear of Destiny that even Hitler himself, sought its powers?
The legends of the Hawaiian Islands are as diverse as those of any country in the world. They are also entirely distinct in form and thought from the fairy-tales which excite the interest and wonder of the English and German children. The mythology of Hawaii follows the laws upon which all myths are constructed.
No man can go dawn into the valley of the shadow of death and stand face to face with the final certainty, and not come back with an awed soul and a chastened spirit. If any one could there would be something in him shocking and repellent to normal human nature. And therefore, the unconscious undertone of solemnity which one feels all through Mr. Beesley's simple narrative gives it a peculiar fitness and impressiveness, and adds to its value as an exact chronicle a certain austere charm.
